The Department of Education XI is strictly implementing the rules in maintaining the cleanliness of school canteens as part of the security measures against the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).
DepEd XI spokesperson Jenielito Atillo said in an interview on Tuesday that they are making sure the canteens are well-sanitized and cleaned.
“We (also) have heightened it all in all (our) COVID-19 guidelines from the very start,” he added.
Following the threat of the possible spread of the virus, the DepEd had already issued five memos in compliance with the Department of Health’s guidelines, particularly on public gatherings.
“We reiterate over and over again that cleanliness must always be primordial just to make sure and ensure that everybody will be protected,” he said.
Atillo said they are directing and recommending to schools that all food served in canteens “must be nutritious ones and the right ones” to help boost the immune system of students.
“With respect to COVID, all our actions, all of us in the national government agencies are in close monitoring with the announcement, pronouncement, and decisions that will be declared by the Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19 under the Department of Health (DOH),” he added.
