The Civil Service Examination set on March 15 will push through amid the issue on the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19), an official said.
Civil Service Commission (CSC) XI chief human resource specialist Evelyn Yparraguirre told TIMES yesterday that the examination here in Davao region will continue on the scheduled date, following a nationwide advisory from the CSC’s central office.
Yparraguirre said those who will be taking the exam are advised to take self-protection measures on the day of the exam.
“They can bring those items like their own masks, alcohol, and hand sanitizers,” she said.
However, Yparraguirre said those who are showing signs of illnesses or flu-like symptoms are advised not to take the exam this March anymore.
Aside from those who are showing symptoms, the CSC also advises examinees not to take the examination if they recently came back from travel in mainland China and its Special Administrative Regions (Hong Kong and Macau, and Taiwan) or other countries to be later covered by the Philippine government-issued travel ban.
Those who had recent contact with a person confirmed or suspected having COVID-19 are also advised not to take the exam.
The CSC advisory cited precautionary measures needed to be undertaken as a response to the Department of Health’s (DOH) recent recommendation for the cancellation of events that drew huge number of attendees.
Those who can’t take the March exam should “advise our office beforehand that they can’t take the exam because they have the symptoms.”
“We can reschedule them for the next civil service exam this August but they have to notify us that they can’t attend the March exam.”
Those who fail to notify or inform the CSC will not be able to take the examination on August. The notification will be in the form of a letter with a medical certificate.
There is a total of 295,711 individuals nationwide registered for the Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) next month.
Around 253,811 individuals will take the Professional Exam while an estimated 41,900 will take the Subprofessional Level.
In Davao region, a total of 16,999 examinees will be taking the exam, 14,425 of which are from Davao City alone. A total of 1,507 examinees will be taking the exam in Tagum, Davao del Norte, while 1,068 examiners are for Mati, Davao Oriental.
