THE 4TH Infantry (Diamond) Division on Friday, May 23, 2025, lauded the “extraordinary bravery and sacrifice” of four soldiers wounded in an encounter with New People’s Army (NPA) remnants in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

The clash, which occurred on May 23 in the hinterlands of Barangay Hagpa, began after troops from the 28th Infantry Battalion responded to a tip from concerned residents about ongoing extortion activities by the rebels.

Major General Michele B. Anayron Jr., commander of 4ID, said, “Despite sustaining injuries while protecting the lives and freedom of others, these four soldiers under the 28th Infantry Battalion exemplified the highest standards of duty, resilience, and patriotism.”

Anayron underscored the persistent threat posed by the remaining terrorists, noting, “There is a situation that needs to be addressed. These remaining terrorists have been a persistent threat, disrupting peace and endangering the well-being of the local population for decades now.”

Following the encounter, the Tactical Operations Group 10 deployed Black Hawk helicopters to evacuate the wounded soldiers, who are now receiving medical care.

“Medical teams are working around the clock to ensure our soldiers receive the best care possible. The Armed Forces are also providing support for their families during this time,” Anayron added.

Meanwhile, pursuit operations are still ongoing to neutralize the remaining communist insurgents in the area.
