The davao Central 911 mobile app is now available for download via Google Playstore and Apple App Store for free.
The mobile app is developed by Auspex for free.
Anyone with a mobile data can access the app, which features news feed and 911 alerts with weather forecast, fire alert, and public advisory.
Furthermore, the app also has a directory which locates the nearest emergency facilities such as hospitals, police stations, and fire stations.
Some features of the app require a login.
The “emergency” feature of the app allows one to contact 911 for an emergency. This feature allows the person sending emergency to capture a photo and send a description of the emergency. The 911 personnel can locate the emergency through a GPS.
The emergency feature reduces the time consumed for probing questions on the emergency as it is already indicated before one can send a report or request to 911.
Another feature of the app, the Family Link’ can locate the “person to contact” indicated in the log in of the app. The person to contact must install the app and must have a mobile data as well to be located.
In case not, the feature still has “last found” which can track the location the person logged in last.
“We can have an easier access on emergency care because we are now living in a digital world,” said Lyndon Ancajas, training director of Davao City DRRMO and Central 911. “On our part, we will have a simple connection with the public in term of emergency operations, such as responding to emergency calls, because everything is already mapped out.”
The Central 911, however, is still completing the mapping and tagging among far-flung highland barangays of the city.
Ancajas updates that they are now almost 70% – 80% done with the tagging of barangay halls, evacuation centers, hazard risk areas, and signage.
The app is still in development stage as the agency is still planning to add more features such as Question and Answer feature where the app user can get a quick response to queries.
The app is developed for free but Ancajas updated that they have plans to allocate budget for the development of the app.
The Davao Central 911 is set to be fully launched later this year.
