LTO XI enhances ‘Oplan Balik Eskwela’ with road safety lectures for students, teachers, and parents

THE LAND Transportation Office (LTO) XI is enhancing its “Oplan Balik Eskwela” program by introducing road safety lectures to students, teachers, and parents in the Davao Region.

Starting Monday, 38 LTO enforcers have been deployed regionwide to monitor school zones from 5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Following the initial “Oplan Balik Eskwela” period, which runs until Aug. 9, teams will continue to conduct road safety and terminal inspections, returning to schools from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for traffic assistance.

LTO XI law enforcement operation head Yuri Lim emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating that enforcers have been stationed across various LTO offices to assist students, faculty, and parents, especially during school arrival and dismissal times.

The LTO is also addressing concerns raised by two schools in the city regarding illegal parking and abandoned vehicles.

They plan to coordinate with the City Traffic and Transport Management Office (CTTMO) and the local government to resolve these issues.

Additionally, the LTO is collaborating with schools to conduct road safety seminars for students in Grades 6 and above.

These seminars will cover topics such as helmet and seatbelt use, the dangers of children riding motorcycles, and defensive driving techniques for faculty members.

Lim emphasized the importance of educating young people about road safety, as they are “future road users.”

The LTO also plans to hold meetings with parents and teachers to discuss the importance of road safety for everyone.
