THE DAVAO City Youth for Green Environment, Inc. (DCYGE) will invite 5,000 participants for its Youth Environmental Summit (YES) 2025 to equip them with skills and knowledge on disaster risk reduction management and management on Apr 20 at Holy Cross of Davao College.
DCYGE spokesperson Dan Laurence Abad said this year’s event expanded to the Davao Region with the partnership of the Department of the Interior and Local Government XI (DILG) and the Department of Education XI (DepEd) to encourage the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and student leaders in the region to join the summit.

Abad shared that last year’s summit surpassed its targeted participant rate at 112%. He added that they are optimistic to reach 5,000 participants with around 400 registered so far.
“This year, this is more special in a sense we are expanding not just here in Davao City but in Davao Region targeting those far-flung areas which are very vulnerable to disasters,” Abad said during the PEP Talks on Mar 28.
The annual event is a gathering of young leaders, students, and environmental advocates in the region under the theme”Our Power, Our Planet: Youth at the Forefront of Disaster Risk Reduction Management.”
Activities will be conducted in the summit that are in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, particularly on climate action.
This includes plenary sessions of climate change discussions and workshops on action plans that are tailored to local and global environmental crises.
“In that action plan crafting, they will be able to adapt and communicate with other SKs, talk with experts on what are the best ways of DRRM (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management), and also create early detection or early prevention of possible disasters,” Abad said.
