4ID highlights shrinking CTG strength in Northern Mindanao

SIXTY-FOUR individuals or 40% of the total manpower of the communist terrorist group (CTG) operating in Region X were neutralized, while 58 firearms, or 32% of its firepower, have been reduced from the 3rd Quarter of 2023 to the present date.

The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division highlighted the accomplishments during the Regional Development Council 10 Macro and Development Administration Committee (MacroCom) meeting at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City on Nov. 8, 2024.

In a report, the 4ID presented the dwindling number of the members and firearms of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC), mainly due to continued collaborative efforts of the local government units, law enforcement agencies, and stakeholders.

Additionally, the 4ID also emphasized other peace and security efforts such as the dismantling of CTG horizontal and vertical units, delegitimizing their narratives, preventing violent extremism, restoring the lives of former rebels, and the continued clearing of areas affected by CTG.

Colonel Antonio Dulnuan, the deputy commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade, and Lieutenant Colonel Manuel Estanilla, the assistant chief of staff for CMO of 4ID, attended the said meeting on behalf of Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, commander of 4ID.

In his remarks, Cuerpo said the CTG’s operational capabilities have been severely crippled with significant losses in manpower, resources, and support from its former mass bases. Their recovery efforts were also thwarted and they are now in “incapacitated status” in both resource generations and limited offensives. But despite this remarkable success, Maj. Gen.

Cuerpo II emphasized that the 4ID will remain vigilant and will continue its operations to eliminate remaining threats and prevent a resurgence of insurgency activities in the 4ID’s AOR.
