TWENTY-NINE members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and 17 high-powered firearms were seized by the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division from January to March this year.

Maj. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, the 4ID commander and the acting Eastern Mindanao Command chief, presented the region’s significant accomplishments during the 1st Quarter 2024 Meeting of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) 10 in Cagayan de Oro City last week.

AFP units in the region initiated 235 combat operations resulting in 17 high-powered firearms surrendered and one high-powered firearm being seized.

Additionally, 29 regular communist guerillas surrendered at this time.

Likewise, 12 critical infrastructure investment protection and security operation teams were deployed in the 403rd Infantry Brigade’s area of responsibility to protect government assets and vital installations.

Moreover, a total of 16 youth engagements, 19 school symposia, 48 pulong-pulong (town hall meetings), and 31 radio broadcasting activities were conducted as part of the awareness campaign against CTG (communist terrorist group) recruitment.

The RTF-ELCAC 10 meeting was attended by regional heads or representatives of different line government agencies, the technical working group, and regional clusters.

Cuerpo praised the soldiers for their relentless focused military operations and the various civil-military operations, which greatly contributed to the Army’s overall accomplishments for the first quarter of the year.

Furthermore, he urged the troops to remain steadfast in performing their mandates to defend the communities against CTG atrocities together with the ELCAC-member agencies.
