4ID commander honors wounded-in-action soldier

MAJOR General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, commander of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, awarded a wounded soldier recuperating at Camp Evangelista Station Hospital in Barangay Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, on Nov. 3.

During the visit, the 4ID commander presented the Wounded Personnel Medal (WPM) to Sgt. Kem T. Tacayon of the 1st Special Forces Battalion.

Tacayon was wounded in action during a recent clash with the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Sitio Balaudo, Barangay Binicalan, San Luis, Agusan del Sur, on Nov. 2, 2024.

In addition to the medal, he also received cash and in-kind assistance to support his recovery.

In a statement, Cuerpo emphasized the importance of caring for soldiers who sacrificed for the nation.

He reiterated the 4ID’s unwavering support for its members and their families, acknowledging the personal and professional challenges that come with military service.

“The 4ID is dedicated to honoring the bravery of its soldiers and ensuring they have the resources necessary to heal and reintegrate after their service. This commitment also serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by military personnel in ending the communist insurgency in our areas of responsibility,” Cuerpo stated.
