48IB honored in send-off for new deployment

THE 48TH Infantry (Guardians) Battalion was honored in a send-off ceremony by the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division on April 4, 2025, for its pivotal role in dismantling key New People’s Army (NPA) units and contributing to the declaration of seven Bukidnon municipalities as insurgency-free.

The send-off ceremony was conducted at the 48IB Headquarters in South Población, Maramag, Bukidnon, as they prepared for a new deployment under the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division.

Agila Division Commander Major General Allan Hambala commended the efforts of the Guardians Troopers for their crucial role in maintaining peace, particularly in Southern Bukidnon.

The 48IB successfully dismantled the Sub-Regional Sentro de Grabidad (SRSDG) Peddler of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC); Weakened Guerilla Front 2 (WGF 2), and Weakened Guerilla Front 18 (WGF 18) under the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC), as well as the dissolution of Weakened Guerilla Front 57, also under the SMRC.

These accomplishments led to the declaration of seven municipalities in Bukidnon as insurgency-free.

Furthermore, the battalion also recorded the recovery of two killed enemy combatants, captured 66 high-powered and low-powered firearms, and facilitated the surrender of 78 active NPA members and 68 mass supporters.

“True victory is not just about defeating enemies, but winning the trust and confidence of the people. Your presence must bring not only security but also hope,” Maj. Gen. Hambala emphasized.

Since 2021, the 48IB has served in various parts of the 10ID’s joint area of operations, including Surigao del Sur, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental—contributing significantly to the declaration of the Davao Region as insurgency-free.

The 48IB is now set to be deployed under the operational control of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, Philippine Army.
