350 performers to join San Pedro Fiesta

AROUND 350 dancers will be performing at the Fiesta sa San Pedro: Paghiusayaw at San Pedro Square to promote diversity in Davao City.

On June 27 at the iSpeak Media Forum, Duaw Davao event organizer Harold Quibete shared the idea for the presentation came from the parish to allow the audience to appreciate the fiesta regardless of what culture or religion they came from.

“We gave them [dancers] the platform para ma pasundayag nila sa tanan. This is a non-sectarian presentation dili lang siya para sa mga catholiko, para ni sa tanan,” he said

The fiesta will be composed of six zones featuring the dancers’ creative presentations of different countries such as Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Japan, India, and others.

“It basically touches the culture of a particular country through dance. Kay ilahang ang presentation is different dances across every nation,” he said.

Quibete added that the archbishop of Davao City and the city government will also be invited with seats allocated for them.

In coordination with the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), the road closure for the fiesta on June 29 will begin at noon with the event to initiate at 6 p.m.

Last May 29, at Wednesday’s Habi at Kape, CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude elaborated that the road closure will be from C.M. Recto San Pedro up to Rizal Bolton and Rizal Ponciano.
