THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry (DTI) released its “Gabay sa Pamimili ng School Supplies” or Price Guide on school supplies on Friday, where 29 items have seen a decrease in cost.
The 2025 price guide covers 195 stock-keeping units (SKUs) across 12 product categories, with a price difference ranging from P1 to P10 compared to the previous year.
The DTI’s Fair Trade Group (FTG) aims to provide more affordable options for consumers as students prepare for the upcoming school year.
“We know how challenging it can be for parents to prepare their children for school, so this Price Guide is our way of easing that burden—making sure students can return to the classroom equipped, confident, and ready to learn without putting too much strain on the family budget,” DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque said in a statement.
The price of the notebooks has reduced by P5-P10, representing 20%-37%; pad paper has reduced by P1-P6 each, and pencils reduced by P5.
Meanwhile, 101 SKUs (52% of the 195 SKUs listed) have maintained their prices from last year, including ballpens, erasers, and sharpeners.
In the price guide, notebooks are priced from P15 to P52, while Pad paper ranges from P15 to P48.75.
On the other hand, pencils cost P11- 24, while pens are available from P3 to P33.
Crayons, in various box sizes, can be purchased for P12 to P114; sharpeners at P15 to P69, and rulers at P16 to P39. Erasers, in various sizes, remain priced at P4.50 to P20.
DTI reminded consumers to check product labels and be wary of school supplies without labels, especially those that do not indicate the manufacturer’s or importer’s name and address, to ensure the quality of school supplies.
The latest “Gabay sa Pamimili ng School Supplies” can be accessed through the DTI website or by following the official Facebook pages of DTI Philippines and DTI Consumer Care for updates and advisories.
