A TOTAL of 27,619 beneficiaries of the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) program in Davao Region were given financial assistance by the Department of Agriculture XI.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas at SM Lanang, DA XI regional executive director Macario D. Gonzaga said that as of June 6, a total of 27,619 beneficiaries in Davao Region received cash assistance amounting to P139,475,950. Of the total, Davao del Norte had the highest number of beneficiaries at 10,077.
“P5,000 per farmer binibigyan po natin. Yan ang intervention ni DA,” Gonzaga said on June 18.
According to Evelyn G. Basa, the rice program focal person of DA XI, said they will be targeting 45,000 beneficiaries for this year.
“We have 45,000 na target for this and as of June 6 we have distributed already 139 million to around the 27,000 farmer-beneficiaries,” Basa said.
The program has P212 million to be distributed to the rice farmers of Davao Region. The distribution began last March 12 and onwards.
The RFFA aimed to help rice farmers manage production costs and sustain rice productivity in times of El Niño and other disasters. Rice farmers who are registered in the Registry System for the Basic Sectors in Agriculture and have two hectares and below will receive P5,000 per hectare.
