The Task Force Davao (TFD) collared 21 individuals who tried to sneak into the for non-essential travels during the last 10 days of October.
Based on its report to Mayor Sara Z. Duterte, the TFD said it sent back those who were denied entry were sent back to their points of origin.
Col. Consolito Yecla, commander of the task force, said they decided to block the entries of the people as they failed to provide valid reasons in coming to the city were for essential travels.
“If Davaoeños failed to ‘self-regulate’ resulting in the upsurge of Covid19 lately, Task Force Davao will help impose regulations for the city. I believe that in the absence of a vaccine, discipline is the only viable solution,” Yecla said.
Of those collared, 11 were from Panabo City, many of them were to visit their relatives, girlfriends, to attend birthdays and visit cemeteries. Others were from the cities of Mati and Tagum, New Corella in Davao del Norte, Lupon in Davao Oriental and Monkayo and Nabunturan in Davao de Oro.
The action of the task force was based on the marching order of Mayor Sara Duterte to prevent the non-essential travel of individuals in the city based on Executive Order 57, the order that also regulates gatherings.
