THE DAVAO City was recently recognized as the top-performing LGU in Mindanao for the implementation and compliance with the requirements of VaxCertPH under the Highly Urbanized Cities (HUC) category.
Vaccination Cluster head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte of the City COVID-19 Task Force received the plaque of recognition for the city during the awarding rites held on March 22, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The plaque was signed by Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary (DICT) Emmanuel Rey R. Caintic, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año, and Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Davao City shared the spotlight with Marikina City of the National Capital Region (NCR) and Iloilo City of Region 6.
For the CC/ICC category, Antipolo City of Region 4A, Roxas City of Region 6, and Malaybalay City of Region 10 were also recognized while in the municipalities category, San Simon, Pampanga of Region 3; Caluya, Antique of Region 6; and Manolo Fortich of Bukidnon also received plaques.
The city launched in October 2021 a digital vaccination certificate booth at the Teen Center Facility near People’s Park for Dabawenyo migrant workers scheduled to travel abroad. Since then, it was expanded to cater to the general public.
Meanwhile, the city-managed VaxCert PH issuance is currently available in designated hubs in Davao City’s selected malls. The VaxCert PH booths opened this month at the Abreeza Ayala Malls, SM Lanang Premier, and SM City Davao.
Dr. Villafuerte said they decided to open more booths to cater to more Dabawenyos since the Teen Center has become crowded and there is usually a long queue of people there.
Primary doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines administered to an individual, according to her, will be reflected on the vaccination certificate. The vaccination certificate may also be accessed at https://vaxcert.doh.gov.ph/ via the website or mobile application.
But Dr. Villafuerte said some people would still opt to register onsite due to some issues with their vaccination information or vaccination cards.
