On SEPT 26, with Ken and Vangie, we spent the P.M. w/ Tato’s Class ‘61 (King Aguiluz, Firdause Abbas, Garry Tiongco, Neil Dalumpines, Bibo Campo, Milton Liu, Dodong Robillio, Frank Regis, Rads Garcia, Sonny D., and Rody D.). First, lunch at MAX near Malacanang hosted by RADS (MRT 3 GM). Then a grand palace tour, followed by dinner. Then we went across Pasig — to Rody’s Bahay Pagbabago, his humble home, really the clubhouse of a 9-hole golf course, also where the PSG is headquartered. Rody and his loyal aide, now senator, Bong Go were there. After maraming kwento (not for FB) he said he’d like to show us his bedroom. Very Spartan — his bed has a “KULAMBO” since he said he can’t sleep w/o it! After, more “confidential” stories (BuCor ninjas, corruption, U.S./ CIA, etc.) he said goodnite as he boarded his helicopter since he was going to Davao that evening.
Tato’s classmates proceeded to Tagaytay Highlands, where Gary & Gladys were hosting them for the next 2 days. Saturday nite was King Aguiluz’s 50th wedding anniv — but we had to beg off since we’re returning to DVO.
Tato and I attended our Ateneo de MLA College ‘65 reunion last SEP 24 at RJ Jacinto’s (our classmate) RJ
BISTRO/EXECUTIVE LOUNGE at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati. Our Davawenyo classmates — Sonny D., Barge Baltazar, Frank Regis — were absent but our Luzon classmates came in force: RJ, Robbie Delgado, Oskie Reyes, Toto Africa, Rene Garrovillio, Monry Mapa plus about 15 others. Expected but absent were: Dick Gordon, Rico Tantoco, Joey Leviste, Pete Lacaba, Nick Tiongson. RJ was an excellent host and at the “TV-LIVE SHOW, 9 PM”, Toto Africa stole the show with his excellent rendition of Bobby Darin’s classic — “BEYOND THE SEA” in — voila! — French. He followed this with his signature song “Mr. SUAVE” (NOLI AYO, next time make him SING, not make a speech!) Of course, RJ was RJ that night along with his guest, HAGIBIS’ Sonny Parsons — great still. It was a FUN-tastic evening.
