167th Malasakit Center opens in Lanao del Sur, easing access to healthcare

THE 167TH Malasakit Center officially opened at the Tamparan District Hospital on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, bringing much-needed relief to indigent patients in the area.

The Malasakit Centers program, institutionalized under Republic Act 11463 and authored by Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, aims to streamline access to government health assistance by providing a one-stop shop for patients to avail of various medical assistance programs.

Go, who was present at the opening ceremony, emphasized the program’s significance in easing the financial burden on poor patients who previously had to navigate multiple government offices to seek financial aid for their medical expenses.

“The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop within the hospital where patients can access assistance from four government agencies,” Senator Go explained. “This eliminates the need for patients to travel long distances and queue in different offices to avail of government medical assistance.”

Since its inception in 2018, Malasakit Centers have assisted over 15 million Filipinos nationwide.

The newly opened center in Tamparan is the second in Lanao del Sur, following the one at Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.

Senator Go also recognized the efforts of Chief Minister Murad Ebrahim, Minister of Health Dr. Kalid Sinolinding, and Mayor Muhammad Juhar Disomimba for their support in making the Malasakit Center a reality in Tamparan.

Beyond Malasakit Centers, Senator Go continues to advocate for improved healthcare access through initiatives such as the establishment of Super Health Centers nationwide and the implementation of the Regional Specialty Centers Act, which aims to bring specialized medical care to all regions of the country.

Go also inspected the construction of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Hospital in Marantao and provided assistance to impoverished residents in Marawi City during his visit.

“I will not waste the opportunity you have given me,” Go said. “I will work hard for the Filipino people. My dedication to public service is my offering to you.”
