150 horsemen join 22nd Davao Horse Show & Competition 

THE DAVAO Horse Club hosted its biggest 22nd Davao Horse Show & Competition participated by more than 150 participating riders and around 200 horses at the Davao City Stable and Horse Park on October 26 to 27.

150 participants with teams from all over the Philippines such as General Santos, Bohol, Cebu, Baguio, Clarke, and other places were gathered at the 22nd Davao Horse Show & Competition to compete in various horse races.

In its 22nd event, the Davao Horse Club partnered with the Department of Agriculture XI featuring a Livestock and Agri Fair during the two-day event.

In an interview with Davao Horse Club president Dr. Ben P. Montañez, he said that the event is a growing passion of horsemen in the Philippines to take part in local horse competitions. He also said that the event is a good source of income in terms of work, utilities, and selling and marketing horses. 

During the opening ceremony, Montañez advocated for protecting the welfare of horses and urged the participants to exercise professionalism in avoiding excessive whipping or kicking.

The 22nd Davao Horse Show & Competition events include obstacle races, oval races, and barrel races with their own respective categories. The awards night will occur on the last day of the event at 6 p.m.

Before the event, the Davao Horse Club hosted activities like the equine and livestock & agri seminars, ingress and registrations, submissions of horse’s credentials and Coggins test results, and a captains meeting on Oct 25.
