THE 10TH Infantry Division (10ID) is planning to recommend the dissolution of the New People’s Army’s (NPA) weakened Guerilla Front 57 (WGF 57).
This was according to its spokesperson, Major Ruben Gadut, who did not cite any specific date for the recommendation. “They can no longer organize people in the countryside or indoctrinate them with communist ideology,” he said.
However, the military remains vigilant. “We are still focusing on their remnants who are consolidating with various groups, including the headquarters of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC), its executive committee (Execom), and personalities from Sub-Regional Committee 3 (SRC 3),” Maj. Gadut explained.
“These groups, along with WGF 57, form a higher unit,” he added.
“The recommendation for WGF 57’s dissolution is based on the fact that a guerilla front’s primary function is to organize,” Maj. Gadut said.
He confirmed the presence of remaining NPA elements in Southern Bukidnon, specifically those linked to the Sentro de Grabidad, the NPA’s logistical arm.
“This dismantling of the NPA’s vertical force structure is why the 48th Infantry Battalion (IB) is actively pursuing the remaining rebel,” Gadut concluded.
