10th ID dismantles guerilla fronts

The 10th Infantry Division, under the leadership of Major General Allan Hambala, has successfully dismantled all guerrilla fronts and vertical units within its area of responsibility, ahead of the deadline set by higher headquarters.

The division is now concentrating its efforts on pursuing the remaining members of these dismantled groups, estimated to be fewer than 20 individuals, who are currently at large outside the Davao region before September ends.

“I’m happy to report that we have dismantled all armed groups operating in the 10th ID’s area before the deadline,” Hambala stated during a press briefing at NCCC Victoria on Tuesday, August 13.

He emphasized the division’s focus on stability and sustainment operations to prevent the resurgence of rebel groups and discourage recruitment.

Hambala clarified the distinction between guerrilla fronts and vertical units. Guerrilla fronts are responsible for indoctrination and recruitment within a specific area, while vertical units act as a mobile force, providing reinforcement and assistance to struggling guerrilla fronts.

The commander acknowledged the challenges in tracking down the remaining NPA members but expressed optimism that, with the cooperation of various agencies and local government units, they will be successful in encouraging their surrender.

He also assured that these individuals are no longer heavily armed, making them less of a threat.

Hambala stated that the 10th ID expects to fully neutralize these remnants by the end of September, primarily focusing on areas outside the Davao region.

He reiterated his call for the remaining NPA members to surrender and avail themselves of the government’s reintegration programs.

The division’s ongoing stability and sustainment operations aim to consolidate the gains made in dismantling the rebel groups and create an environment where communities can thrive without the fear of insurgency.
