THE 10TH Infantry Division (10ID) is advancing its external defense posture by evaluating a military site in Southern Mindanao for rehabilitation into a functional troop cantonment and mobilization center for the reserve force.

10ID Commander MGEN Alvin Luzon led the reconnaissance and site assessment on Oct. 24, joined by key officers from Task Force GenSan, who presented an operational briefing on the proposed location and its development requirements.

Military evaluators reviewed the site’s terrain, accessibility, existing structures, and logistical needs to assess its capacity to support active-duty units and serve as an assembly point for reservists during territorial defense missions.

According to the 10ID, the initiative aligns with the division’s shift toward external security operations under the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ comprehensive archipelagic defense operations.

Luzon underscored that building reliable support infrastructure is as critical as force readiness in safeguarding national sovereignty.

“Credible territorial defense requires deliberate preparation, capable forces, and reliable support infrastructure,” Luzon said. “We must ensure that our facilities and mobilization systems are developed to sustain our operational readiness and enable us to fulfill our responsibility to protect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The division stated that the proposed rehabilitation project remains subject to further planning, validation, and higher-level approvals before full-scale development begins.
