THE 1001ST Infantry (Pag-asa) Brigade has successfully concluded its enhanced security operations during the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 mid-term elections.
Brigadier General Felix Ronnie Babac, commander of the 1001st Brigade, worked closely with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to create a peaceful electoral environment within the brigade’s area of responsibility.
In preparation for the COC filing period, Babac engaged with municipal election officers (MEOs) and provincial election supervisors (PES) across Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte to ensure the safety of candidates, election personnel, and the public.
During the filing period from Oct. 1 to 8, 2024, commanders from the brigade’s operationally controlled units—the 60th and 25th infantry battalions—conducted regular on-ground visits to monitor the situation.
Proactive measures were implemented to ensure compliance with Comelec regulations, fostering an environment where candidates could file their COCs without incident.
“Our coordinated efforts have been vital in maintaining peace during this critical phase of the electoral process,” Babac said on the importance of intensified security operations to prevent violence or intimidation amid the upcoming polls.
He also acknowledged the commitment shown by the local candidates to follow the electoral guidelines, which further contributed to the peaceful filing process.
As a result of these collective efforts, the COC filing recorded zero incidents of violence, highlighting the effectiveness of the security protocols in place.
The 1001st Infantry Brigade’s operations have established a strong foundation for the upcoming electoral season and reinforced its commitment to public safety in the region.
Babac also reminded the troops of the importance of maintaining strict neutrality as a non-partisan institution and encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities.
