More or less less 10,000 members from the police, military, and other security forces and volunteers will be deployed starting Oct. 30 for the commemoration of the All Soul’s Day and Saint’s Day.
Angel Sumagaysay, Public Safety and Security Command Center ( PSSCC) chief, told reporters yesterday during the AFP-PNP press briefing held at the Davao City Police Office conference room, that they counted 9,641 warm bodies so far to form part of the composite teams.
They will be sent to guard the 35 public and private cemeteries in the city. The teams will also secure terminals, seaports, and the airport.
“We have an average deployment of 1,928 per day,” he added.
Sumagaysay reminded the public on the do’s and don’ts upon entering the cemeteries, particularly the bringing of knives, sharp objects, liquor, cigarettes, and loud noises.
Davao City Police Office director, Col. Alexander Tagum, also said the deployment will start on Oct. 30 until Nov. 4.
“The deployment is two days advanced, before the start of Undas, since in those days there are already people who are going to cemeteries,” Tagum said.
Maj. Jason Baria, the spokesperson of Police Regional Office XI, said personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and Regional Support Force are on standby.
Meanwhile, Maj. Ronel Legarde, the spokesperson of Task Force Davao, said they will only serve as support force to make sure the security plan of the Davao City Police Office is strictly followed.
