NEARLY 100 local artists from the 14 art clubs of the Dabawenyo Artist Federation Inc. (DAFI) will participate in the upcoming Davao Artfest 2024 at La Herencia from May 25 to June 2.
According to Vic Navales, an artist of DAFI, the Davao Artfest this year will be the biggest exhibit featuring more than 200 paintings varying in acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolor, sketching, and many others by the local artists of DAFI.
“This time, we have almost a hundred artists participating. These are new artists, young artists, old artists like me who are into painting,” he said on May 22 at Wednesdays Habi at Kape.
The event will feature live sketching performed by five artists that will cost P5,000. The art exhibit will also help to promote the local art and artists of Davao City.
“This is one way for us to showcase how good Davao artists are. How much we give time, effort, and our talent to paint something beautiful and show it to our fellow Dabawenyos and all people over the Philippines,” he said.
Navales hopes for the Culture and Arts Office ordinance by Council Pilar C. Braga to start soon as this will allow the government to help local artists and finance art projects and programs
“With this ordinance from the local government, I think they could help. DTI is also into it. Lungsod Lunsad they are also helping the artists, the creative artists in the city,” he said.
